Those watching me on facebook know that I have been hinting towards an announcement for quite some time. Unfortunately, two attacks of gastro and a cold (thank you European winter) has delayed my news!
My partner and I have been contemplating for some time the direction of our lives. We are approaching our 30’s and in between weddings and baby showers, we have find ourselves at the dawn of a new era.
‘Moi Petite’ was created to capture our travels and the spontaneity of our life. It was a way for me to express myself and to live a somewhat creative life; but I do not associate well with being a “travel blogger”. I do not travel from one location to the next, on the contrary, I have a regular life. I live in an apartment with my partner, I have a job waiting for me and I have two cats.
I do not always have the pleasure, or the time, of being on top of a mountain at sunset to capture the perfect landscape image. The challenge however, is I want to keep photography in my life even when I’m not travelling.
To resolve this, for the past 12 months I have experimented with different areas of photography. I did not enjoy photographing portraits, nor do I find pleasure in photographing weddings. I met with photographers who were generous with their time and advice (thank you Alison.) And somewhere in between photographing store displays and food, it clicked; I adore still life photography. I adore playing with the light in addition to changing the props of the image. I can’t explain it any other way, but it speaks to me.
How could I incorporate my new interest in conjunction with ‘Moi Petite’ when this website already has a steady following? So to put it frankly, I’ve been blogging without you.
I created Curated Life Studio to share my ‘still life’ journey. My aim was to retain what I have learnt and to inspire others by being transparent with my work. As such, I have posts outlining my process in a non-technical or threatening way; something I wish existed when I first started learning photography.
If you believe this is something you would be interested in, I would love if you would show your support by liking our facebook page!
I want to assure you, that Moi Petite will continue, where I record my travels and mumblings of day-to-day life.
You didn’t you think you could get rid of us that easily, did you?! 😉
